What does your process look like?

  1. We engage in a free 30-minute discovery call to see if we are a good match to work together - I only work with clients that feel a sense of connection and resonance with, and on issues where I feel strongly that I am able to help. If we agree to work together, there will be a few forms to fill out and clients can book a time for their first session using my Calendly link which I will send. They will receive a Zoom appointment link via email after they book.

  2. All sessions need to be paid in full 24 hours prior via etransfer or paypal.

  3. First session - 90 minutes - before we engage in the actual hypnotherapy session, we have an intake conversation where, through a series of questions, a client will help me understand their journey and in what ways they most want to transform. I will share some common myths and misconceptions about hypnotherapy and allow them to ask any questions about the process. This process usually takes about 30-40 minutes. I will then lead the client into a hypnotherapy session which will usually last about 40 minutes.

  4. We will have a few minutes to chat once I bring the client out of hypnosis so that I can share some of their thoughts about the experience with me.

  5. Subsequent sessions - 60 minutes - we will have about 15-20 minutes to discuss how they’ve integrated the previous session and talk about anything they want to share about their progress. I will then lead the client into a hypnotherapy session of about 40 minutes in length once again.

Many clients experience significant improvement after just 1 session. Most clients will see maximum benefit at approximately 6 sessions, however each individual is unique and I will work with whatever number of sessions is right for them. Many clients choose follow up check-in type sessions at various intervals into the future and some just love it so much they continue to come back for the deep sense of groundedness they feel for days and weeks after.

What’s required for a session with me?

All my sessions are done online via Zoom. I don’t do any in-person sessions.

  1. A quiet space where you will not be disturbed by other family, or roommates, etc. and where you can be very comfortable, laying down or sitting up - completely your preference.

  2. A notepad in case you want to jot anything down during our pre/post conversation. During the actual session you will not be writing, and your eyes will be closed.

  3. A computer or cell phone with video connectivity - I suggest earbuds or headphones for maximum benefit.

  4. A blanket or any other personal comforts.

What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?

We all have a conscious mind (logical, linear and analytical thinking) and an unconscious or subconscious mind where emotions, perceptions, habits, beliefs and automatic bodily functions, such as breathing and digestion, are handled. Hypnosis deals with your unconscious mind or your “inner” mind. The conscious mind is responsible for guarding the inner subconscious mind so when someone tells you something that isn’t true, it’s your conscious mind that would reject that idea. During hypnosis we want the conscious mind to relax and stand to the side, so we can interact directly with the subconscious mind. This is how we get new beneficial ideas to be accepted by the subconscious mind – by going into a theta brainwave state with the conscious mind deeply relaxed. In hypnosis we temporarily relax the conscious mind so that the beneficial changes we want to make to our emotions, and habits are learned quickly by the powerful deep inner mind.

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we go in/out of numerous times a day. One example of this is on our way to sleep each night and when we first wake in the morning – during those times we ARE in a theta brainwave state which is where we aim to be during our hypnosis sessions. Think back to how many times you were able to recall a dream as soon as you woke up, but later that day, you cannot. You were still in the theta brainwave state immediately upon waking. We all pass through this theta brainwave state on our way into, and out of sleep each night and morning. Hypnosis is the experience of being intentionally led into this theta brainwave state, so that we can connect with the subconscious mind directly.

The improvement clients can experience with hypnosis are significant. One body of research has published that in 600 sessions of traditional talk therapy the improvement equated to about 38% however in just 6 sessions of hypnotherapy the improvement increased to 93%. This is one reason why many practitioners feel 6 sessions is optimal, but some people succeed with less, and some with more.

What does hypnosis feel like?

It is essentially meditation with a goal. It’s normal to continue to think conscious thoughts or to hear sounds while in hypnosis. Some people describe it as a refreshing nap and report feeling deeply relaxed pleasant feelings. Often the breathing slows as a result of the relaxation along with feelings of warmth, tingling or crying. The trance state may seem much longer or shorter in duration than it actually is. Some people report experiencing none of these sensations or only some, and that’s fine too. Each individual’s experience is completely unique.
